Primary Brain Hydatid Cyst In A Child: A Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Abstract- Introduction Hydatid cyst is endemic in India, with different clinical presentations as per site of involvement in body. Occurrence primarily in brain without involvement of other visceras is rare. Case report We present a case of eight year old female child with gradually progressive right hemiparesis and slurring of speech, with a large cyst in left cerebral hemisphere leading to midline shift without perilesional edema. Probable diagnosis of hydatid cyst was made and she underwent surgery for the same with proper precautions and protocol leading to removal of cyst in-toto. Post-operatively her hemiparesis and speech improved and she was discharged. Conclusion In endemic countries, hydatid cyst should always be kept as one of the differential for cystic masses without perilesional edema, until other definitive diagnosis is proved. They should be managed as per hydatid protocol to prevent its rupture and dissemination.
